Prologis leases distribution centre to Cormar Carpets in Hemel Hempstead, UK

Prologis has leased 122, 730ft² of space to Cormar Carpets, at its distribution centre Hemel Hempstead in the UK.

Cormar, one of the UK’s leading carpet manufacturers, has taken has taken the unit to expand its regional hub network across the south of England. The new operation has the potential to bring 60-70 new jobs to the town.

Cormar Carpets managing director David Judge said: “Our business is expanding in south and south east England and we are developing our supply chain to meet demand.

“Prologis Hemel Hempstead is a perfect location for us, so we are delighted to have secured this building and we look forward to being part of the local business community.”

The distribution centre, which is being refurbished to a high specification, will be ready for occupation by April. Close to Junction 8 of the M1, the building is also four miles from Junction 21 of the M25.

Prologis UK managing director Andrew Griffiths said: “There is a high level of demand for distribution property along the south M1 corridor and very little availability, so we are pleased that we could offer Cormar Carpets this unit at Prologis Hemel Hempstead.

“We aim to offer our customers the best opportunities in the market and Hemel Hempstead is a prime logistics location.”

Brasier Freeth and DTRE acted for Prologis. Cormar Carpets was represented by Eighty 20.

Prologis owns and manages approximately 25 million square feet of logistics and distribution space in the UK as of December 31, 2016.
