Lineage Logistics opens new cold storage distribution facility in Charleston County, US

Lineage Logistics has opened a new 180,000ft² cold storage distribution center in Charleston County, South Carolina, US.


The new cold logistics facility provides immediate access to the Port of Charleston and I-26, with regular rail service through Norfolk Southern.

The Charleston plant provides services, comprising of rail and transload, freight consolidation, blast freezing, drayage, import/export and custom labeling and stamping.

The 21-acre lot includes 30 truck doors and four rail doors, as well as parking for 100 autos.

Lineage Logistics president and CEO Greg Lehmkuhl said: "South Carolina's numerous business advantages, in addition to the booming market, are helping Lineage to better service our export and import customers, as well as our domestic shipping partners.

"The feedback we've received to date is that our newest facility is opening in the right location at the right time."

The new distribution facility deploys modern technology for energy conservation, product handling and high-capacity blast freezing.

Lineage's new center will enable customers to export products to foreign markets and speed up domestic access to imported products.

South Carolina Ports Authority president and CEO Jim Newsome said: "South Carolina Ports Authority has worked diligently to expand our capacity for temperature-sensitive products, including investments in on-terminal capabilities and expansion of our refrigerated cargo infrastructure."
