Kuehne + Nagel signs MoU to provide global logistics services to Alibaba
Swiss logistics firm Kuehne + Nagel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide global logistics services to the customers of Alibaba.com.
The logistics services will be offered to customers of the Chinese e-commerce leader’s B2B business unit.
As part of the deal, the global logistics network and capabilities of Kuehne + Nagel will be combined with Alibaba’s expertise in B2B e-commerce to provide e-commerce logistics solutions for China-based shippers.
Via Kuehne + Nagel’s digital solution KN FreightNet, the paid members of Alibaba.com are already securing quotations, book pickup and destination delivery services for airfreight consignments.
According to Kuehne + Nagel, the e-commerce partnership has already been extended to include less-than-container-load (LCL) solutions.
In near future, the firms are planning to expand the scope of logistics services to include various modes of transportation, comprising of air, sea, rail and overland. It will also include contract logistics outside China.

With around 70,000 employees at about 1300 locations in over 100 countries, Kuehne + Nagel operates seafreight, airfreight, contract logistics and overland businesses.
