DHL extends logistics services contract with Nikken

DHL Supply Chain has extended its ten-year partnership with Nikken, a UK-based producer of wellness products such as mattress toppers and nutritional supplements, until 2014.

The deal will see DHL cover all logistics services of Nikken in Europe from its facility in Essen, Germany.

As per the deal, the logistics provider will manage all warehousing processes, including quality control of incoming goods to picking and packing, customs clearance, returns processing and value-added such as repacking, relabeling and set building.

The entire product range of Nikken includes bulky shipments such as mattress toppers and smaller items like nutritional supplements.

Nikken UK head of European operations Phil Woodcock said in terms of on-time delivery and flexibility, we are extremely demanding.

"It is really important for us that our customers' needs are met. By consolidating the warehouse operations in Essen, DHL can provide Nikken with an efficient integrated logistics solution for the whole of Europe," Woodcock said.

The deal also includes procurement and distribution services provided by DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Express and DHL Parcel Germany.

DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps MD of retail Werner White said the company is delighted to continue its logistics partnership with Nikken.

"The contract extension provides an efficient and cost effective service, which will be achieved through a centralized warehouse solution located in Essen," White said.
