CM Downton renews contract with Glatfelter

UK-based logistics firm CM Downton has renewed its contract with paper and engineering specialist Glatfelter, extending a relationship that begun in the 1990s.

Under the contract, CM Downton will deliver palletised reels of paper, which will be used for designing tea-bags and coffee filters, from manufacturing facilities of Glatfelter to beverage producers across the UK.

The logistics firm also provides raw materials and finished goods warehouse operations and transport raw materials to the manufacturing facilities of Glatfelter.

The company also offers transport synergies, efficiencies and cost savings.

CM Downton business development head David Hutchings said: “We have a long-term relationship with Glatfelter and have been managing various aspects of their logistics operations for many years. This latest contract renewal shows that our partnership approach provides stability for our customers and helps them improve their supply chain activities and achieve their business objectives.”

Founded in 1864, Glatfelter is a paper mill manufacturer and specializes in fiber-based engineered products, carbonless, uncoated, filter papers and airlaid non-woven materials.

Glatfelter employs over 4300 people and operates across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Canada, Germany, France, the UK, Philippines, China and Russia.

Glatfelter also aims at conserving resources, preventing waste and enhancing environmental sustainability for the benefit of future generations.

CM Downton was founded in 1955 and employs over 5000 people. The firm specializes in added value logistics services, supply chain services and IT integration, and has over 550 vehicles, 1500 trailers, 1m ft2 warehousing services.

In July 2017, insulation manufacturer Isover, a unit of the Saint Gobain group, has awarded a £15m five-year transport contract to CM Downton.
