CEVA signs logistics contract with Intermas Nets

LBR Staff Writer Published 27 January 2012

Ceva Logistics, a global supply chain management firm, has signed a five year contract with Intermas Nets, a manufacturer of extruded plastic nets.

As per the deal, the logistics firm will manage Intermas' inbound logistics, warehousing activities, order preparation and outbound logistics from its multi-customer warehouse in Subirats, Barcelona.

The logistics operator will provide complete supply chain services for 2,500 garden products, which will be then distributed to 1,500 stores across Iberia.

Intermas' products which include garden ponds, bamboo borders and rolls, artificial grass and paving stones, have specific packaging and storage needs; most of the items are made from natural fibers which need to be kept at constant humidity and handled with particular care.

The logistics operator said that it will apply its LEAN processes to all operations to drive efficiencies and improve the customer's supply chain day after day, and also support Intermas using its Matrix warehouse management system (WMS).

Intermas corporate director for organization and systems Josep Oya said the company's growth as a business group is both organic and based on acquisitions and has led to its leading position in the garden sector.

"As a result, we have decided to focus on our core competence of product development, and look for the best companies to implement effective operational solutions and manage them on our behalf," Oya said.

"With this contract, we chose to entrust CEVA with the management of our logistics because they can offer us innovative, best-in-class solutions that will respond to our specific needs.

"We believe in working in close partnership with our suppliers, as it ensures full alignment with our business objectives and is a driver of success for both CEVA and Intermas."

CEVA business development director in Iberia Antonio Fondevilla said the trust Intermas has placed in the company by awarding it this contract is the result of many factors: its experience in the Consumer and Retail sector, combined with its commitment to optimizing Intermas' supply chain and supporting their growth were major contributors to this decision.
